A decorative glazed earthenware wall plaque in the barbotine style, modelled as a fruiting and flowering apple tree. The piece features three-dimensional applied elements including red and yellow blushed apples, green foliage, and white blossoms with textured yellow centres. The trunk is detailed with incised bark texture and finished in tonal brown and tan glazes. The reverse is unglazed and bears an oval paper retailer’s label for Mariposa, 6 Brighton Place, Brighton. A wire hanger is attached to the reverse for wall mounting.
Condition report:
Generally good condition. There is a small chip to the tip of a leaf on the lower left side. No other significant cracks or repairs are apparent. Minor surface wear is consistent with age and decorative use.
