Buyer's Premium:

A collection of late 19th and early 20th-century English ceramics, primarily featuring decoration in the Gaudy Welsh and traditional Imari palettes. The lot consists of various pieces of bone china and fine ironstone or earthenware. The decorative schemes are characterised by underglaze cobalt blue combined with overglaze iron-red and green enamels, frequently enhanced with gilt highlighting. Patterns include stylised floral motifs such as peonies and prunus blossoms, scrolling foliage, and geometric borders.

The collection includes a large bulbous water jug with a flared scalloped rim and a scrolling handle finished in a bright green glaze. Also present is a teapot featuring a hinged, domed metal lid with a small finial, possibly made of pewter or silver plate. A rectangular serving dish is included, featuring integrated handles and deep cobalt blue borders decorated with gilt diamond motifs. The lot also contains a small footed bowl of octagonal form, several smaller creamers and jugs of varying shapes, and a stack of plates and saucers with fluted or shaped rims, including hexagonal and octagonal examples.

No factory marks are visible on the undersides of the items from the provided overview. The items are typical of Staffordshire production from the United Kingdom, manufactured to meet the period demand for Japanese-inspired decorative wares.

Condition report:

The collection shows signs of age and use throughout. The metal lid on the teapot is heavily oxidised and pitted. Significant wear and thinning of the gilding is evident on many pieces, particularly along the rims and handles. The ceramic bodies and glazes exhibit general surface scratching, and minor chips or flea bites are visible on the rims of some plates and saucers. Bidders should be aware that as the items are stored together, there is a risk of further minor surface wear. A thorough individual inspection is recommended for a complete condition assessment.
