An assortment of vintage costume jewellery including brooches and a scarf clip, featuring various floral and figural designs. The group includes a scarf clip in the Art Nouveau style with a stylized rose in pink and orange enamel against a black background with green leaves, reminiscent of the Glasgow Rose motif. There is a large oval openwork brooch depicting blue and yellow flowers with silver-tone textured leaves in a gold-tone frame. Also included is a cameo brooch with a classical female profile set in an ornate gold-tone border with rope-twist detailing. A butterfly brooch is present, featuring openwork wings set with numerous clear circular faceted rhinestones. A circular brooch features a black enamel border surrounding a cream-coloured central plaque with a raised silver-tone flower. Finally, an oval openwork brooch shows three flowers in red and pink enamel with green leaves. The items are constructed from base metals with gold-tone and silver-tone finishes. Reverse pin mechanisms include standard safety catches and C-clasps. While some markings are visible on the reverse of the larger brooch, they are not clearly legible.
Condition report:
All items are in good vintage condition. The enamel on all pieces appears largely intact with no significant chipping observed. The rhinestone butterfly brooch appears to have all stones present. There is light surface scratching and minor tarnishing to the metal surfaces, consistent with age and previous wear.
