Buyer's Premium:

A large porcelain kettle-form teapot produced by Baron China Staffs Ltd, featuring hand-painted decoration by the artist Doug Hague. Doug Hague was a former Royal Worcester artist, and this piece is executed in the classic painted fruit style. The body and separate domed lid are decorated with a still life titled Apples and Grapes, depicting ripe red and yellow apples amongst clusters of purple grapes and green foliage. The scene is set against a heavily textured, painterly background wash in neutral tones. The teapot is designed with a high, fixed overhead handle and a short, curved spout, both of which are finished in bright gold gilding. The artist signature D. Hague is visible on the lower right side of the main body painting.

The base of the teapot features several marks. Transcribed in black script is Apples & Grapes by Doug Hague. There is a central circular backstamp in green ink depicting a crown above two crossed paintbrushes, surrounded by the text BARON CHINA STAFFS LTD QUALITY BEST GOLD. Arched above this central mark is the text FINE HAND PAINTED CHINA COLLECTORS PIECE.

Height: 23 cm
Width: 25.5 cm.

Condition report:

The teapot is in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of professional restoration. The gold gilding remains bright and shows minimal signs of wear. There is light shelf wear to the unglazed foot rim on the base.
