A mid-to-late 20th-century Chinese porcelain ginger jar of ovoid form with a short neck and a matching domed circular cover. The exterior is decorated in overglaze polychrome enamels in the famille rose palette. The central scene depicts a lady holding a fan alongside two boys in a garden setting, featuring a blue garden rock, a tree, and a red trellis fence. The shoulder is embellished with a decorative border consisting of yellow and pink ruyi-head motifs and stylised floral elements. The cover features a simple turquoise-lined band around the rim. The base of the jar bears a red stamped mark within a square border. The characters read Zhongguo Jingdezhen Zhi (Made in Jingdezhen, China) above the letter N flanked by two horizontal bars (= N =). This mark is associated with state-run porcelain factories in Jingdezhen during the People’s Republic of China era, dating from approximately the 1970s to the 1980s.
Condition report:
The jar and cover appear to be in good overall condition. There are no visible cracks, chips, or signs of restoration. Minor kiln-related firing imperfections and light surface grime are present, particularly on the unglazed foot rim. The enamel decoration remains vibrant and intact.
