A vertical pair of UK 1966 4d postage stamps commemorating the England World Cup victory, identified as Stanley Gibbons SG 702 (Scott #465). The stamps were printed via photogravure by Harrison and Sons Ltd. This multiple includes the right-hand margin (selvage) which displays the printer’s imprint HARRISON AND SONS LTD and a black corner crop mark. The pair is currently attached to a white paper substrate featuring blue ink manuscript notes. The handwritten text includes Barlow, the date Saturday 29.3.69, and the phrase With Compliments accompanied by an illegible signature.
Condition report:
The stamps are in mint unfranked condition with no postal cancellations. Perforations appear intact across the pair and the marginal selvage. Centring is uniform. The stamps are adhered to a secondary paper backing, which prevents inspection of the original gum and classifies the items as stuck down. The accompanying paper shows standard folding creases.
