The unit is housed in a heavy-duty die-cast metal enclosure with a top-hinged lid designed for trackside installation. The interior contains a standard black industrial handset connected via a flexible stainless steel armoured cable. A paper identification label is located inside the cabinet, bearing the printed text Lift Handset to followed by the handwritten location BILLI and references for Locat and Os G, suggesting a former placement near Billingham. The exterior lid features a weathered green and white diagonal-striped identification sticker, a standard marking for operational railway telephones.
