A modern commemorative gold coin issued in 1999 as part of the British Historical Gold Coins series. Struck in .999 fine gold, the coin is a 1/200 oz replica of the first gold sovereign of King Henry VII from 1489. The obverse features a Latin legend and is bordered by the inscription FIRST GOLD SOVEREIGN HENRY VII 1489. The reverse border is inscribed BRITISH HISTORICAL GOLD COINS and includes technical specifications 1/200 OZ FINE GOLD .999 and the copyright date 1999. The piece is held within a square black and clear acrylic display case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity with the serial number 00202.
