This 2012 United Kingdom gold plated sovereign was struck to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, with his initials IRB located below the truncation. The surrounding Latin legend reads ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REGINA FID DEF. The reverse displays a contemporary interpretation of Saint George and the Dragon by the sculptor Paul Day, with the date 2012 at the base. This specific design was issued for one year only to mark the jubilee. The coin features a milled edge and shows proof-like qualities with frosted devices against mirrored fields. It is professionally encapsulated in a London Mint Office clear plastic slab. The front label bears the reference CN-4103D and certification number 395619450-731. The back of the slab includes a London Mint Office holographic seal, QR code, and serial number 16676982.
