This UK silver crown, dated 1900, features the Veiled Head or Old Head portrait of Queen Victoria on the obverse, designed by Thomas Brock. The obverse legend reads VICTORIA · DEI · GRA · BRITT · REGINA · FID · DEF · IND · IMP ·. The reverse displays the Saint George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, with the date 1900 in the exergue and the designer’s initials B.P. positioned above the rim. Struck at the Royal Mint, the coin is composed of .925 sterling silver and features a milled edge with a regnal year inscription. This issue was the final crown design of Queen Victoria’s reign.
Condition report:
The coin is in circulated condition, consistent with a grade of Fine. Significant wear is present on the high points of the portrait and the reverse figures, with loss of fine detail in the Queen\'s hair and the dragon\'s scales. Numerous contact marks, surface scratches, and dark, uneven toning are visible on both the obverse and reverse fields.
