This group of porcelain tableware is in the Spring Bamboo pattern, attributed to the manufacturer Narumi. The decoration features hand-painted and gilded Japonisme-style sprays of bamboo in an olive-green palette. A distinctive wide charcoal-grey band runs through the design, embellished with gilded motifs of stylized clouds, flying birds, and a small rustic pavilion. Each piece is finished with a gilded rim and accents. This partial service comprises an assortment of plates and saucers of various sizes (approximately 15 pieces), one teacup, one small bowl, and one small cream jug. The fine, thin-walled body of the items is characteristic of Japanese eggshell porcelain produced for the export market. No maker marks, backstamps, or signatures are visible on the undersides of the pieces.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of age and use consistent with its period. There is noticeable rubbing and wear to the gilded rims and handles across most of the items. A small chip is present on the rim of the cream jug. At least one plate in the stack exhibits a minor chip or firing flaw on its rim. No significant cracks or professional repairs are immediately apparent from the provided photographs.
