A mid-20th-century rocking chair of Windsor-influenced design. The chair is constructed from a light-coloured hardwood, likely beech or elm, with a pale, limed-effect or stripped finish. It features a high, arched backrest with seven tapering spindles and a broad, curved top rail. The swept arms are supported by further vertical spindles. The chair is raised on decoratively turned front legs and square-section rear legs, all mounted onto curved rockers. The seat is currently fitted with a thick foam cushion wrapped in white protective wadding and mesh, lacking its final upholstery cover. The construction shows characteristic post-war British or Scandinavian furniture design.
Condition report:
The item is presented as a restoration project. The wooden frame appears structurally sound but has been stripped of its original finish, now showing a pale, distressed appearance with minor surface marks consistent with age and use. The upholstery is incomplete, consisting only of the internal foam and batting, and requires a final fabric cover.
