This vintage piano accordion is of Italian manufacture, as evidenced by the word ITALY embossed on the lower edge of the chrome-plated metal grill. The instrument features a black celluloid-covered body with 34 piano keys on the treble side and three gold-toned register switches. The bass side is equipped with a 48-button system arranged in six rows of eight buttons. A strip of green metallic adhesive tape is present on the front of the body, likely covering the original maker’s nameplate. The bellows are constructed with metal-reinforced corners and the unit is fitted with leather shoulder and hand straps. The item is accompanied by a textured brown hardshell carrying case with a lined interior.
Condition report:
The accordion is in fair to poor overall condition with significant signs of age and heavy use. The chrome-plated grill shows extensive pitting and oxidation. The black celluloid body has numerous surface scratches and scuffs. The leather straps are heavily perished, cracked, and frayed. The bellows appear intact but show wear to the edges and folds; they have not been tested for air-tightness. The internal reed functionality and mechanical operation of the keys and buttons have not been verified. The hardshell case is worn with significant external scuffing and deterioration to the interior lining.
