Buyer's Premium:

A Wedgwood fine bone china collector’s plate titled ‘The Baked Potato Man’, based on an original work by the artist John Finnie. This plate represents the first issue in ‘The Street Sellers of London’ series. The circular plate features a central transfer-printed illustration of a Victorian-era street scene where a vendor, dressed in a brown coat and blue cap, serves a steaming baked potato from a decorative yellow-toned warming cart to a young boy holding a chimney sweep’s brush. Small sparrows are depicted in the foreground and background of the scene. The reverse of the plate bears a comprehensive green printed backstamp which includes the title, artist name, and series details. It is identified as plate number 9780 G in a limited edition restricted to fifty firing days. The marks include the Wedgwood Portland Vase logo, ‘WEDGWOOD BONE CHINA Made in England © ’85’, the number ‘4034’, and the Bradex reference number 26-W90-10.1.

Condition report:

The plate is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restoration. The reverse side exhibits several small brown surface marks, likely adhesive residue from a previous display mount. A small contemporary stock sticker is present on the reverse rim.
