A collection of ten vintage collector albums and cigarette card books, primarily mid-20th century promotional items from the United Kingdom. The lot includes six Wills’s Cigarette Picture-Card Albums produced by W.D. and H.O. Wills. Specific series noted include Animals of the Countryside, Household Hints, and two editions of the Do You Know? series, identified by handwritten notes as the 3rd and 4th series. These albums feature decorative printed borders and an original cover price of one penny. One volume is open to show tipped-in cards featuring botanical subjects including dahlias and other garden flowers. The collection also contains four albums published by Castella cigars. Two copies of The Donington Collection are present, featuring a red racing car on the cover and focusing on motor racing history and vintage vehicles associated with the Donington Park circuit. Two copies of In Search of Steam are also included, which are landscape format albums containing steam locomotive photography and history. All items are softcover and staple-bound.
Condition report:
The items are in a condition commensurate with age and usage. There is visible tanning and foxing to the paper covers of the Wills\'s albums, along with light corner wear and handwritten inscriptions on several of the front covers. The Castella albums show minor edge wear and light creasing to the covers. Staples may show signs of oxidation. The internal cards and pages where visible appear to be in good order.
