An assortment of British Post Office First Day Covers (FDCs) presented in several red and blue ring-binder albums. The collection features commemorative issues from the mid-to-late 1970s. Visible sets include the 1976 Royal National Rose Society Roses issue (SG 1007-1010), the 1976 William Caxton issue (SG 1011-1014), the 1976 British Cultural Traditions set (SG 1015-1018), and the 1979 Rowland Hill Penny Postage centenary issue (SG 1099-1102). Other themes represented include European Communities and British Trees (The Oak). The stamps are primarily commemorative sets with various denominations. Each cover is franked with a complete set of stamps and cancelled with circular date stamps (CDS), including several pictorial cancellations from the Derby post office. The majority of covers are addressed, both handwritten and typed. All items are housed in clear plastic protective sleeves within the binders.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition, with covers protected in clear plastic sleeves. Cancellations are primarily circular date stamps (CDS) or pictorial first day cancels. Some minor toning or light edge wear may be present on the envelopes, commensurate with age. The binder albums show standard external shelf wear from storage and use.
