2001 United Kingdom commemorative bimetallic two-pound (£2) coin, struck to mark the centenary of Guglielmo Marconi’s first transatlantic wireless transmission. The coin is composed of a nickel-brass outer ring and a cupro-nickel inner disc. The reverse features a design by Robert Evans with the date 2001 and the denomination TWO POUNDS. The obverse displays the fourth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The coin is housed in its original illustrated Royal Mint presentation folder titled WIRELESS BRIDGES THE ATLANTIC — MARCONI 1901 —, which includes historical text and technical information regarding the 1901 event.
Condition report:
Brilliant uncirculated. The coin exhibits high mint luster and no visible signs of wear or circulation. The presentation folder is well-preserved with only minor shelf wear to the edges and corners.
