This 1985 United Kingdom Proof Coin Collection was issued by the Royal Mint. The collection consists of a group of coins including the following denominations: one penny, two pence, five pence, ten pence, twenty pence, fifty pence, and a one pound coin. The coins are struck in base metals, specifically bronze, cupro-nickel, and nickel-brass. Reverse design types comprise the crowned portcullis, Prince of Wales feathers, crowned thistle, crowned lion, crowned Tudor rose, Britannia, and the Welsh leek. Each coin features the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The set is housed in a blue presentation case with a central rectangular plaque and is accompanied by the original informational booklet from the Royal Mint.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit a proof finish with mirrored fields and no visible signs of circulation or significant environmental damage. The blue presentation case shows minor exterior wear. The interior white fabric lining displays noticeable foxing and yellowish discolouration. The accompanying booklet is in good condition.
