A five-piece novelty earthenware tea set featuring a vibrant, hand-painted fruit theme. The set comprises a lidded teapot and four cups with matching saucers. Each piece is decorated with a distinct fruit motif including a pear, apple, orange, and strawberry, rendered with raised white slip-trailed outlines. The decoration features bold blocks of colour such as orange, green, blue, and yellow, accented with radiating striped patterns on the rims and bases. The teapot is of bulbous form with a pointed-finial lid and a C-scroll handle, while the cups share a similar rounded profile. No manufacturer marks are visible on the underside of the pieces.
Condition report:
Overall fair condition with visible signs of wear. There is a chip and an area of glaze loss to the red-and-white striped shoulder of the teapot. One saucer, featuring the blue-and-white striped rim, has a significant chip to its outer edge. The set shows a buildup of surface dust and grime, along with minor surface scuffs consistent with handling and age.
