This vintage medium format folding camera was manufactured by Agfa in Germany, as confirmed by the embossed markings on the camera back. The model is identified as the Agfa Billy, a vertical folding design featuring chrome-plated articulated struts. The camera body is constructed from metal and is finished with a black, horizontal-ribbed leatherette or vulcanite covering. It is fitted with an Agfa Agnar 1:6.3 / 105mm lens. The lens housing is marked with a focus scale in feet ranging from 8 to infinity. The camera utilizes a Pronto leaf shutter with available speeds of 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, and 1/200 seconds, in addition to bulb (B) and time (T) settings. The aperture range is f/6.3 to f/22. The rear of the camera features an embossed trapezoidal panel marked AGFA BILLY and MADE IN GERMANY, alongside a circular red window for film frame counting with a sliding metal cover. A stylized Agfa diamond logo is embossed on the side and back panels. The camera is designed for 120 roll film, typically producing 6x9cm negatives. A black leather hand strap is attached to the side of the chassis.
Condition report:
The camera is in fair to good vintage condition. Visible surface wear is present across the body, with minor oxidation and pitting noted on the chrome-finished components, particularly the folding struts and strap lugs. The textured body covering remains largely well-preserved. The bellows appear intact and free of significant tears, although light-tightness is untested. The lens glass shows some internal dust consistent with its age. The mechanical functionality of the shutter, aperture, and folding mechanism has not been tested for accuracy or light-tightness.
