This 1989 United Kingdom silver proof one pound coin (KM# 959a) was struck by the Royal Mint in .925 sterling silver. The reverse features the Scottish Thistle design by Leslie Durbin, depicting the plant with two flower heads and foliage rising from a royal diadem. The obverse features the third definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. The coin displays a proof finish with mirrored fields and frosted relief elements. It is presented in its original Royal Mint blue box with a clear protective capsule and the manufacturer identification card.
