Issued by the Royal Mint, this 1986 UK commemorative two pound coin celebrates the XIII Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh. The coin is struck in gold-coloured nickel-brass and is housed in its original colour-illustrated card presentation folder. The reverse design by Norman Sillman features a Scottish thistle encircled by a laurel wreath, superimposed upon a saltire or St. Andrew’s Cross, with the date 1986 at the top. The obverse features the third definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
