This lot comprises two ceramic figurines. The primary piece is a glazed bone china figure by Coalport titled Sue from the Ladies of Fashion series, which was designated as the Figurine of the Year for 1998. The figure is depicted in a coral-coloured gown with a gathered bodice, a white shawl draped over her arms, and a beaded headpiece featuring a pink rose. The underside of the base features a printed mark in black: COALPORT BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND EST. 1750, Ladies of Fashion, Sue, and Figurine of the Year 1998. It further specifies the piece was hand decorated and modelled by Jack Glynn, with a copyright date of 1997. Handwritten characters LL, K, 10/97, and 17 are present on the base. The second item is a smaller, unmarked ceramic figurine of a girl in a mid-century style, wearing a white skirted dress with a textured green collar and a blue floral detail on her shoulder.
Condition report:
The Coalport figurine is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair. The smaller girl figurine shows surface dirt and several dark firing specks, commonly referred to as pepper spots, within the glaze.
