A vintage Mordex Precision Industries The Merlin centrepin trotting reel, manufactured in Sheffield, England. The reel features a 4.5 inch diameter perforated spool finished in a textured bronze tone. The construction includes dual black handles, a metal line guard, and a rear-mounted on/off check lever. The backplate bears a circular maker’s label with a red border, inscribed MORDEX PRECISION INDUSTRIES SHEFFIELD ENG. and The Merlin, surrounding a central bird of prey graphic. The spool is currently wound with green monofilament fishing line. This item is accompanied by its original cardboard box and plastic packaging material.
Condition report:
The reel is in used vintage condition with visible signs of wear consistent with age and use. There is notable paint loss and surface rubbing on the reel foot, outer rims, and the textured finish of the backplate. The maker\'s label remains largely intact and legible. Mechanical functionality has not been tested. The original box shows wear, creasing, and discolouration.
