A mid-to-late 20th-century Italian drinks trolley in the Sorrento style, featuring an oval drop-leaf top and a lower rectangular shelf. The piece is constructed with walnut-toned veneers and a high-gloss lacquered finish. Both tiers are decorated with elaborate floral and foliate marquetry inlays in contrasting light-coloured woods. The upper tier is supported by four turned wooden legs and features a handle consisting of scrolled metal brackets with a turned wooden grip. The lower tier is fitted with six brass-finished circular bottle holders. Movement is provided by two large decorative spoked metal wheels with rubber tyres at the front and two smaller swivel casters at the rear. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The trolley appears structurally sound. The high-gloss finish shows typical signs of light age-related wear, including minor surface scratches and faint crazing. There are some small scuffs and minor chips to the veneer edges, particularly on the drop-leaf sections. The metal hardware shows light surface tarnishing and the rubber tyres show typical signs of use.
