This decorative musical decanter is designed in the form of a portable lantern. The structure features a hammered copper conical hood and a circular copper-toned base, joined by three twisted metal uprights. It houses a removable emerald green glass bottle which is etched with an architectural scene depicting a two-storey building with a gabled roof and a balcony. Above the building is a line of cursive script, with characters including d, e, n, b, e, r, and g partially discernible, likely referring to the German town of Rothenburg. The piece is topped with a hammered copper finial-style stopper and is equipped with a large, circular wire swing handle. The deep, weighted base contains a wind-up music box mechanism.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition with a natural aged patina. There is visible surface oxidation and tarnishing to the copper and metal components consistent with age. The green glass bottle remains intact and appears free of cracks or significant chips. The internal music box mechanism is untested.
