A collection of mid-to-late 20th-century cigar bands, known as vitolas, originating primarily from Dutch and Spanish manufacturers. The lot includes two spiral-bound albums titled Ritmeester CIGAR BAND ALBUM, with covers depicting 19th-century military cavalry scenes. The collection features various themed sets, including a sheet of Rokende Jan bands depicting the cast of the television series Mission Impossible, including actors such as Peter Graves and Barbara Bain. Also present are España 1982 FIFA World Cup commemorative bands, including an example for Escocia (Scotland) featuring the national flag. Other themes include religious iconography with Alvaro bands depicting scenes such as La Oracion en el Huerto and San Juan Bautista Niño, heraldic crests, classical art reproductions, and equestrian subjects. The collection consists of multi-coloured, die-cut bands, some mounted on paper sheets or held in plastic sleeves, alongside a significant quantity of loose bands. Visible brand markings include Ritmeester, Alvaro, Jasneva, and Rokende Jan.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. The albums show minor shelf wear and light scuffing to the covers and edges. The cigar bands generally retain bright and vibrant colours with sharp printing. Some bands are neatly mounted while others are loose in a pile. Typical age-related toning is present on some of the paper backings and internal album pages.
