A lot consisting of two metalware pieces. The first is a mid-20th-century silver-plated cigarette box of rectangular form with a hinged lid. The lid features heavily chased foliate and scroll motifs surrounding a central rectangular cartouche engraved with the initials H.G. & A.M. The underside of the lid bears the manufacturer’s stamps: CORPORATE MARK above a crown, GRANTED BY THE CUTLERS COMPANY 1836, ALPHA PLATE, VINERS OF SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND, CHASED. The interior is lined with wood, likely cedar, and divided into two compartments. The second item is a vintage cast brass bottle opener designed as a nude female figure with arms raised to form the opener mechanism. This Art Deco style piece is commonly referred to as a Naughty Lady or Diving Lady figural opener.
Condition report:
The silver-plated box exhibits significant tarnish and oxidation across the exterior surfaces, with wear to the silver plating on the sides revealing the base metal. The interior wood lining remains in good, clean condition. The brass bottle opener displays a warm, aged patina and surface wear consistent with regular use.
