A small, relief-moulded glazed earthenware jug produced by Weatherby and Sons in Hanley, England, under the Royal Falcon Ware brand. The piece features a bulbous form with a cream-coloured ground, characterised by an all-over moulded honeycomb or pebble-textured background. It is decorated in high relief with a vibrant floral spray consisting of a large central yellow flower, a red flower above, and several smaller purple blossoms, all set amongst green foliage. The decoration is finished with hand-applied colourful glazes. The jug has a short, simple spout and a scrolled handle. The base bears a printed factory mark in black, featuring a Union Jack flag on a pole with the word DURABILITY inscribed diagonally. To the right of the flag are the words WEATHERBY HANLEY ENGLAND ROYAL FALCON WARE. Additionally, there is a small hand-painted purple decorator mark and an impressed mark which reads ENGLAND. A small adhesive lot sticker numbered 1003 is also present on the base.
Condition report:
The jug appears to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations. There is some minor shelf wear to the unglazed foot rim, consistent with age and use.
