A vintage set of writing instruments by Paper Mate, comprising a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil. Both instruments are constructed with cylindrical barrels of brushed stainless steel, accented by polished chrome-plated clips and push-button actuators. The clips feature a distinctive rectangular white enamel inlay decorated with two black hearts, the signature logo of the manufacturer. The lower section of each barrel is incised with the text PAPER MATE. The ballpoint pen utilizes a push-button mechanism, and the mechanical pencil features a push-button lead advance. The set is housed in its original hinged presentation box with a faux-wood grain exterior and a gold-tone metal latch. The interior lid is lined with cream-coloured satin-like fabric, printed in gold with the double-heart logo, the text PAPER:MATE, and U.S.A.
Condition report:
The set is in excellent vintage condition. The brushed stainless steel barrels show minimal signs of surface wear or scratching. The chrome plating on the clips and buttons remains bright with no visible pitting or brassing. The presentation case is well-preserved with a functional latch and a clean interior lining, exhibiting only light external shelf wear consistent with age.
