A mid-century modern sommerso art glass bowl, featuring a heavy clear glass body with a submerged emerald green core. The bowl is fashioned in an organic, square-profile star shape with an undulating rim and eight hand-pulled, pointed edges. This distinctive form is widely attributed to the designer Josef Hospodka for the Chribska Glassworks in Czechoslovakia, dating to the 1960s. The piece is constructed using the sommerso (submerged) technique to layer the internal colour within the thick clear glass casing. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels present on the item.
Dimensions: 260mm (w) x 260mm (d) x 90mm (h).
Condition report:
The item is in good auctionable condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or significant abrasions. Minor surface wear to the base and occasional small internal air bubbles (seeds) are consistent with the age and hand-blown manufacturing process.
