A collection of United Kingdom coinage, primarily comprising pre-decimal bronze pennies and halfpennies. Visible pieces include pennies of Edward VII with the obverse inscription EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP: and George V. Identified reverse designs include the seated figure of Britannia, a 1914 penny, and a 1941 halfpenny featuring the Golden Hind sailing ship. The collection also contains a decimal two-pence coin depicting the Prince of Wales’s feathers and at least one cupro-nickel coin. The coins are housed in a tapered, cylindrical metal tin featuring a lithographed floral motif of poppies and other flowers on a green and yellow ground.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit heavy signs of circulation including significant surface wear, dirt, and varying degrees of oxidation and toning. The metal tin shows age-related wear consisting of scattered paint loss, scratches, and surface corrosion.
