A mid-20th century Thai bronze and horn flatware service for six, comprising six fruit knives and six two-tine forks. The set is constructed from gold-toned bronze with polished black handles, potentially fashioned from buffalo horn or wood, which are secured with brass pins. Each handle is terminated with a decorative metal cap featuring a relief-moulded figure of a traditional Thai deity or mythical figure. Each piece is stamped with the mark SIAM at the base of the decorative metal terminal. The service is housed in its original red cardboard presentation cases with contrasting red and yellow fabric linings.
Condition report:
The pieces are in good vintage condition, exhibiting surface tarnishing and oxidation consistent with age and the nature of the bronze material. The handles appear structurally sound. The original presentation cases show significant wear, including fraying and deterioration to the interior fabric linings and scuffing to the exterior surfaces.
