A rectangular 925 silver trinket or toothpick box designed in the Victorian style. The exterior features ornate repoussé work, including a central blank oval cartouche on the lid framed by a floral and foliate wreath, with additional floral sprigs positioned at each corner. The perimeter of the lid and the base are finished with a gadrooned border, and the side walls of the box display a continuous vertical ribbed pattern. The box is fitted with a hinged lid that opens to reveal an unlined interior. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible in the provided images.
Length: 7.5 cm.
Condition report:
The box shows surface wear and heavy tarnishing consistent with age. There is significant dark and reddish discolouration to the silver surface on the lid and side edges. The hinge mechanism is intact and functional.
