A pair of English George III style candlesticks constructed with turned and faceted oak stems. Each stem terminates in a circular, stepped wooden base. The items are fitted with white metal sconces and collars, which are decorated with cast gadrooning and foliate motifs. No visible hallmarks or maker’s marks are present on the metal components, indicating they are silver-plated.
Condition report:
The items show signs of age and use. There is visible wear and loss to the finish on the wooden bases. Remnants of red candle wax are present within the sconces and on the exterior of the bases. The silver-plated mounts exhibit surface tarnish.
