A pair of tapered rectangular-section porcelain vases of Chinese form. Each vase is decorated with an all-over dense floral design in underglaze blue, featuring stylized peony blossoms set amongst scrolling foliage. The decoration is applied to all four sides and extends to the flared, square-section rims. The uniformity of the pattern suggests a transfer-printing process. The base of each vase bears an underglaze blue apocryphal four-character seal mark for the Qianlong period (1736-1795). These vessels were likely produced in the late 20th century in the style of earlier Qing dynasty wares.
Height: 29 cm
Base Width: 10 cm.
Condition report:
Both vases are in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair. There is minor surface soiling and light shelf wear to the unglazed footrims. Some minor firing imperfections and transfer misalignments typical of this manufacturing process are present.
