A pair of decorative ceramic pedestal chalices or footed vases by the Il Verrocchio studio in Florence, Italy. Each vessel is finished in a deep oxblood red glossy glaze and is decorated with a repeating frieze of stylised lancet and ovoid motifs in gold and black. The form features a flared trumpet-shaped mouth and a cylindrical body that tapers to a short pedestal stem, set on a broad circular foot. Gilt banding is applied to the rim, shoulder, and the edge of the base. The underside of each piece displays a white printed factory mark consisting of the words Il VERROCCHIO in an upper arc and florence – italy in a lower arc, flanking a central logo of a rampant goat and the letter V. The unglazed base reveals a buff-coloured earthenware clay body.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or evidence of restoration. Minor shelf wear and surface marking are present on the unglazed foot rims. The decorative gilding and glazed surfaces remain bright and well-preserved.
