A large cast iron fire grate of traditional form, designed in the Gothic Revival style. The piece features a curved basket section composed of nine horizontal bars, suitable for holding logs or coal. The rear of the basket is flanked by two tall upright posts surmounted by decorative cast fleur-de-lis finials. The front and side edges of the basket are further embellished with short, pointed vertical spikes. The unit is supported by two heavy square-section block feet at the front and integrated supports at the rear. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible.

Condition report:
