A pair of decorative wall-mountable knives from The Bradford Exchange celebrating the career of John Wayne, comprising The Lawman (Issue Ten, No. A1133) and Sunset Rider (Issue Nine, No. A1402). Each piece features a handle with a three-dimensional hand-cast and hand-painted sculpted figure of John Wayne in western attire, finished with a bronzed effect over a wood-grain textured grip. The decorative blades display full-colour photographic montages of John Wayne in various cinematic roles, including portraits and scenes on horseback. The knives are accented with gilt-finished S-curved crossguards and pommels, with the latter bearing a facsimile signature of John Wayne. The flat reverses include integrated metal hanging brackets and are inscribed with detailed production information, indicating a limited-edition presentation restricted to a maximum of 295 casting days. Both pieces are licensed by Wayne Enterprises and bear 2008 Bradford Exchange copyright marks. The items are housed in their original polystyrene packaging, and the lot includes a Certificate of Authenticity for the Sunset Rider knife.
Condition report:
Both items appear to be in excellent and unused condition. The sculpted figures and photographic transfers on the blades remain intact without visible wear, chips, or fading. The gilt finishes are bright and the reverse hanging brackets are secure. The original polystyrene packaging shows minor signs of storage wear and age-related discolouration.
