This lot comprises a collection of commemorative 50-pence coins issued by the Isle of Man to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day (1945-2020). The coins are struck in cupro-nickel and feature a series of reverse designs that collectively spell the word VICTORY. Each coin is individually housed within a plastic capsule and presented in the original tri-fold commemorative card folder. The reverse designs include the denomination FIFTY PENCE and various scenes related to the end of the Second World War, specifically: Winston Churchill V for Victory, Celebrations on the Isle of Man, Soldiers celebrating in Trafalgar Square, HMS Dido Battleship returning from War, Spitfires flying over St. Paul’s Cathedral, London street party, and A soldier returning home to his family. The obverse of each coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
Condition report:
The coins are in brilliant uncirculated condition with full original mint lustre and no visible surface marks. The presentation folder shows minor signs of shelf wear and surface creasing at the fold lines and corners. The plastic capsules are clear and undamaged.
