A collection of UK pre-decimal coinage presented in a rectangular decorative base metal box. The lot comprises a variety of denominations, predominantly bronze pennies and halfpennies, alongside cupro-nickel and silver-coloured coins including shillings and florins. Notable reverse designs include the seated figure of Britannia and the Golden Hind sailing ship. Visible dates include 1936 and 1948. Inscriptions include ONE PENNY, HALF PENNY, and royal titles such as GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX. The box features an embossed lid with a design of two peacocks facing each other surrounded by foliate and floral motifs, with remnants of red and gold-coloured decorative pigment.
Condition report:
The coins are in circulated condition, exhibiting surface wear, contact marks, and natural toning consistent with age and use. Areas of oxidation are present on some bronze specimens. The metal container shows significant surface wear, scratches, and extensive loss of the original decorative finishes.
