A small circular lidded box manufactured from 935 silver, featuring decorative cloisonne enamel work. The hinged lid displays a central seven-petal flower head in cobalt blue enamel, surrounded by a symmetrical arrangement of scrolling foliate motifs, teardrop shapes, and circular accents in deep red, turquoise, and cobalt blue. The sides of the box are further decorated with foliate scrolls and a cluster of blue enamel berries. Both the lid and base are finished with beaded borders. The underside is stamped with the fineness mark 935, indicating a high-grade silver content common in Continental Europe during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Condition report:
The box shows signs of age-related wear, including surface scratches and a darkened tarnish to the silver. There are minor losses and pitting visible in some of the enamel cells, particularly on the blue petals of the central flower. The hinge is functional.
