A Victorian 925 silver commemorative bar brooch of oblong form featuring a scalloped edge. The face of the brooch is decorated with a centrally placed raised crown, flanked by the royal cypher letters V and R for Victoria Regina. The background is further embellished with hand-engraved foliate and floral designs. The reverse is fitted with a traditional long pin and a simple C clasp mechanism. An illegible stamped mark is present on the circular base of the pin hinge.
Condition report:
The item is in good antique condition, showing an aged patina with tarnish across the surface. There are minor surface scratches consistent with age and use. The engraving remains crisp and the pin mechanism is in working order.
