Estimated price: £40 - £80

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises a pair of antique industrial manual pipe or conduit benders, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Each tool is constructed from forged and cast iron, featuring a long handle that terminates in a Y-shaped fork. The fork houses two pivoting, semi-circular jaws with a distinctive waffle or diamond-pyramid textured surface designed to provide high grip on metal piping. A hinged secondary leg is attached to the neck of each tool, serving as a fold-out support or fulcrum for use against a ground surface. While there are faint incised marks visible on the necks of the tools, they are heavily obscured by oxidation and pitting, rendering any specific maker or pattern name illegible.

Length: Approximately 60cm.

Condition report:

Both tools exhibit significant surface oxidation and heavy pitting consistent with age and industrial use. The patina is uniform across both items. The hinged support legs and pivoting jaws are intact, though they are currently stiff due to the presence of rust. The textured surfaces of the rollers show expected wear from historical use.
