This trio of decorative pyramids consists of three pieces in graduated sizes, designed in the Egyptian Revival style. The items are cast from a copper-based alloy, likely brass or bronze, and feature a dark, chemically patinated surface finish. The decorative elements are acid-etched or engraved into the metal, revealing the bright gold-toned base material. Each side of the pyramids is decorated with scenes inspired by Ancient Egyptian iconography, including pharaohs and deities depicted in profile. Common motifs include figures engaged in ritual acts and the sun disc with radiating rays associated with the Aten. The central scenes are surrounded by panels of pseudo-hieroglyphic symbols. These objects are typical of decorative souvenirs produced in the mid-to-late 20th century.
Condition report:
The pyramids exhibit visible signs of age and wear. There is significant loss to the dark patinated finish on the edges and corners, where the underlying bright metal is exposed. Areas of green verdigris oxidation are present, most notably along the base edges of the medium-sized pyramid. There are minor surface scratches and some pitting consistent with use and age.
