Description
A pair of mid-20th-century glazed earthenware pieces manufactured by the SylvaC factory in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The first item is a large planter, model number 3290, featuring a cream-coloured petal-shaped bowl supported by a base moulded as overlapping green leaves. The second item is an oval bowl, model number 3287, moulded as green leaves with an applied relief-moulded white Calla lily flower and yellow centre to the exterior. Both pieces bear impressed factory marks to the underside including SYLVAC, MADE IN ENGLAND, and their respective model numbers. The base of the planter also features incised marks reading 7 III.
Planter (3290) approx. 260mm length x 110mm height
Bowl (3287) approx. 200mm length.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit visible fine crazing to the glaze, which is more prominent on the cream and white areas. There is minor surface dirt present within the recesses of the moulded decoration. No chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are apparent from visual inspection.
