Description

A small decorative lidded brass ewer or coffee pot, designed in an Orientalist style reminiscent of a traditional Middle Eastern dallah. The piece features a bulbous body supported by a pedestal base, a curved handle, and a tapered spout. The central body and lid are finished with a white lacquer or enamel coating, decorated with hand-painted floral and foliate motifs in green, red, and gold tones. The handle, spout, lid finial, and base are constructed from cast brass. The lid is attached via a simple hinge and features a pointed finial. No maker marks or signatures are visible. Items of this type were frequently produced in regions such as India or North Africa for the export and souvenir markets during the mid-20th century.
Height: approximately 20 cm.

Condition report:

The ewer shows visible signs of age and wear. There is significant chipping and loss to the white enamel coating, particularly around the spout and the central bulbous section of the body. The brass elements exhibit a naturally aged patina with areas of tarnishing and minor oxidation. The hinge remains intact but shows wear commensurate with age.
