Description
A vintage Richards of Sheffield Lucky Farthing novelty folding pen knife, manufactured in Sheffield, England. The item features a key-shaped plated metal handle with a circular head inset with an authentic 1948 British bronze farthing coin. The coin reverse depicts a wren motif with the inscriptions 1948 and FARTHING. The handle body is decorated with vertical engine-turned linear patterns and stippling, and the top includes a circular aperture for attachment to a keychain or watch chain. The knife is constructed with a single folding steel blade housed within the handle.
Condition report:
The folding steel blade shows significant signs of age and use, including heavy surface oxidation, staining, and pitting throughout. The blade tip appears slightly rounded.
