Description
A contemporary oil or acrylic painting on canvas by the artist W Marks, dated 2010. The work is a stylistic interpretation after Rembrandt van Rijn’s 1655 painting Titus at his Desk. The composition depicts a young figure with reddish-brown hair leaning over a desk with open papers, rendered with a dramatic chiaroscuro effect that focuses light on the face and foreground. The brushwork is expressive and loose, featuring visible impasto in the highlights. The piece is signed W Marks and dated 2010 in the lower right-hand corner. It is mounted within a heavy, rustic wooden frame with a hand-carved, scalloped profile and is secured to the front with six decorative black metal studs.

Condition report:
