Description
A pair of commemorative coin first day covers produced by Mercury. The first cover, titled Britain in Bloom, contains a 1997 Isle of Man cupro-nickel one crown coin. The reverse shows a bouquet of roses and the inscription 1 CROWN. The cover features Royal Mail Floral Greetings stamps with a Kew Gardens postmark dated 1997. This item is from a limited edition of 3,000, numbered 1421. The second cover commemorates the 95th birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and contains a 1995 Isle of Man cupro-nickel one crown coin. The reverse features a portrait of the Queen Mother, a triskelion shield, and a floral sprig, with the inscriptions 95th BIRTHDAY OF H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER, 1900, 1995, and 1 CROWN. This cover is from a limited edition of 10,000, numbered 05043. Both coins display a proof-like lustre.
